Hope I'm doing this right...

Concept Class: Muse

I'm not very excellent with balance... so if you see something up with my skills or w/e, let me know. All help is obviously appreciated .

Weapon: I really would like to see this class get it's own form of weapon that does, say, 15-18 damage. The point is not to make a strong wand, but I like the idea of a tight damage. This can be any form of ranged weapon – not a wand/staff like item specifically – but I would like to keep the weapon to something that of which a caster would use. However, the “mysterious” part of this class would be suited well with throwing darts of some kind. I don't know how fast these weapons would attack.

Offhand items are things such as fossilized bugs – possibly in a jar. I'm talking about centipedes, spiders, etc.. Maybe some shrunken skulls, too. Anything weird

Armor: Common AL of 60 or 65.

Energy: 30 with basic armor. 4 pips of energy regeneration. Can achieve up to 37 with just armor.

Look: I'm currently thinking of something close to V (V for Vendetta), save the hat and wig. The armor would provide standard shirt and pant materials, with a robe like garment over it. The robe will provide a hood to the wearer, while the actual headgear is a mask. Not too unlike the Mesmer headgear, except it will all be full-face masks, and the color will generally be white with markings of a face (lips, colored cheeks, etc.).

Attributes:

Madness (Primary): For each rank in Madness, the casting time of all spells decreases by []%. Several skills, especially those related to altering the effects of choices one makes, become more effective with higher Madness.

Wrath: No inherent effect. Many skills, especially those related to pain and destruction, become more effective with higher Wrath.

Lust: No inherent effect. Many skills, especially those related to zeal and ambition, become more effective with higher Lust.

Apathy: No inherent effect. Many skills, especially those related to disinterest and heedlessness, become more effective with higher Apathy.

Skill listing (examples):

Madness:

Heat of the Moment
5e – 2c – 20r
The next spell you cast, casts instantly.

Determination
10e – 15r
For the next 4... 12 seconds, the next spell you cast can not be interrupted.

Recklessness
15e – 3c – 20r
For the next 5... 12 seconds, spells you cast, cast 50%... 75% faster, but take 33%... 25% more energy to cast.

Fury
10e – 2c – 20r
For 5... 12 seconds, during the cast time of the next spell you cast, you can not take damage. This spell ends once you have casted a spell. When this spell ends, you take 11... 7 damage for each second you spent casting said spell.

Hive Mind [E]
25e - 4c – 40r
Create a Hive Mind with 90... 120 health at current location. Allies nearby the Hive Mind can not be easily interrupted and cast spells 50% faster. The Hive Mind is destroyed after 30... 50 seconds.

Wrath:

Pain
10e – 1c – 5r
Target foe is struck for 15... 70 shadow damage.

Smite
5e – 1c
Target foe is struck for 10... 57 shadow damage.

Rage
10e – 1c – 8r
All adjacent foes are struck for 12... 50 lightning damage.

No Escape
10e – 2c – 15r
Target foe is Crippled for 4... 13 seconds and Bleeding for 5... 12 seconds.

Lust:

Sword of Passion
10e – 2c - 15r
For 6... 18 seconds, target foe attacks 33% faster, but whenever that foe attacks, that foe takes 7... 16 damage.

Power Break
5e – 2c – 15r
Target foe's next attack does 42... 26 more damage, but for 8... 14 seconds after the attack, that foes does 4... 18 less damage.

Illusion of War
10e – 1c – 25r
For 8... 18 seconds, target other ally attacks 33% faster.

God's Charge
5e – 20r
For 6... 15 seconds, target ally moves 25% faster.

Apathy:

Why Bother
2e – 2r
Target foe changes target to nearest ally of that foe. If there are no allies in range, target foe loses target.

Change of Interest
5e – 5r
All foes in the area immediately target you.

Without Guilt
15e – 3c – 15r
For 8... 18 seconds, whenever target foe casts a spell, all foes in the area take 14... 28 damage.

“NEVERCARE!”
5e – 10r
For 10... 18 seconds, target ally can not move but gains +32... 50 armor.
(sorry... that name is kind of an inside joke between me and friends )

Depression
5e – 45r
Target foe moves 75% slower for 4... 12 seconds.

While creating this concept, I was just trying to think of something *I* would like to play. There is no real story behind the character yet, so I'll leave that be for now.

Its like a super buff version of a mesmer o.O nifty!

a widdle overpowered, and id like to see more functions, for it...otherwise you're gonna end up like the ritualist: ie: 1 build

I see alot of realy interesting mesmer skills, not a new class. And if it isn't close enough to mesmer already, the primary attribute copies fast casting, mesmers primary attribute.

I really like the title of muse, but this sounds like a great build name for mesmer, and a few new hexes and attacks, not a revolutionary or unique class.

Most of these skills are either overpowered versions of Mesmer skills, or something very acceptable for mesmer to have, without a significanty unique function and identity, there really isn't any need of making a new class.

Muse Armor for Mesmer and some new hexes is about the best this amounts to IMO.

Ive been thinking about a build that ive seen the Crimson Skull use..


The Mentalist. I think THIS build youve made would fit awsomely with that name.

Also, Hive whatever skill should have a death time somewhat like 'Dissonance's'

Personally, i think you have a class here thats too similar to the mesmer, and with some minor tweaking and name changes of skills (IE Pain), this could be a very .. interesting class :P

Nice list of skills, but in agreeing with those above, it look too El/Me. Need to give it something special to spice it up.

Yes it definitely needs changes. Maybe I will work on that later to make it unique.
